Meet Angela Whitecross, Bee Moor Communications

Why did you join the WI?
I am happiest when I have a sense of community, am learning new things and meeting interesting people – the WI definitely offers this. I wanted to go out and have fun, but not just in pubs and clubs like in my 20s, or in my work or mother identity.

It was fab to come together with a group of like-minded women and set up a new WI, strengthening the community in which we live. We always seems to end up in the pub though– so I keep an old hobby as well.

Which women would you invite to your dream dinner party?
Alicia from the Good Wife (What would Alicia do?), Bridget Jones (Would I get on with myself?!), Kim Catrall (or Samantha! Both as fun and interesting), Elizabeth Gaskell (her despair at trying to be a professional and a mother and maintain a household resonates a lot!)

I am guessing I may have a hangover the following day…

What’s your favourite book?
I couldn’t possibly decide -I hope to have some new favourites after joining our book clubs. Favourite authors are Margaret Atwood, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and more recently discovered, Sarah Waters.

What’s your favourite cake:
A good chocolate fudge cake.

Tell us a secret:
I work in a Literary House, but have yet to actually fully read any of the books the famous author who lived here wrote. Oops. I am also not great at keeping secrets – so don’t tell me yours!
