Why did I join the WI? I loved the radical history and the links to the suffragette movement- my favourite film-related song is “Sister Suffragette” from Mary Poppins- I was obsessed with it as a child and really wanted Mrs Banks’ sash! Still do!

Which women would you invite to your dream dinner party? Ada Lovelace for the computing and maths. Rosalind Franklin as she was incredibly clever and forged the way for women in science. Mary Wolstencroft, because she was ace and a fundamental feminist. Victoria Coren as she’s bloody funny and a great poker player. Caitlin Moran because, again, she’s brilliant.

What’s your favourite book? Bridget Jones’s Diary. I’ve read it countless times.

What’s your favourite cake? Victoria sponge. No icing but with raspberry jam, fresh strawberries and whipped Chantilly cream.
